Ratings News: 12 Million watched The Celebrity Traitors final last night (contains spoilers)

The nation was gripped last night as The Celebrity Traitors finale drew in a staggering 12 million viewers, making it one of the most-watched television events of the year. That number could DOUBLE when catch-up figures are counted.

The dramatic conclusion to the hit reality series saw alliances crumble, betrayals exposed, and emotions run high as the final contestants battled for the grand prize inside the show’s now-iconic Scottish castle. Social media erupted as fans shared disbelief and excitement over the shocking final twist, with #CelebrityTraitorsFinal trending at number one on X (formerly Twitter) throughout the evening.

Alan Carr was crowned the winner of the first ever series of Celebrity Traitors. After a dramatic finale that saw the comedian and television host, 49, outwit his fellow contestants to claim victory, he also landed the prize of £87,500, which will go to a charity of his choice. Alan, who became one of the show’s Traitors early in the competition, triumphed in Thursday’s (06.11.25) tense final episode of the BBC reality series.
The Chatty Man host beat fellow finalists Cat Burns, Joe Marler, Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga after weeks of strategic gameplay, alliances and betrayals filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands.
Alan had been among the bookies’ favourites to win, having managed to remain undetected throughout the competition while carrying out two “murders” in plain sight – a feat viewers hailed as one of the most convincing Traitor performances yet.  The BBC’s latest viewing figures confirm the finale’s success, cementing The Celebrity Traitors as a ratings juggernaut and a major win for the broadcaster’s entertainment slate.

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the celebrity edition has proved a massive hit with audiences and critics alike, praised for its psychological gameplay and lavish production.

The huge finale audience even gave a boost to the night’s other major BBC moment — a first-look teaser for The Night Manager series two, which aired immediately after the episode and sent fans into overdrive. And Celebrity Race Across the World launched a new series at 8pm, likely to be the highest rated episode to date.

All episodes of The Celebrity Traitors are now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
