The Good Ship Murder: What to Watch on TV Tonight

The Good Ship Murder is on 5 tonight, as a brand new episode sees the ship pull into Cape Verde.

Linda Robson guest stars, so you know tonight’s telly is starting strong.

Two merry widows, Tilly and Elsa, set off on a “grief cruise” to celebrate the lives of the loved ones they’ve lost. When the ship docks in Cape Verde, they join a small group heading ashore to visit a seaside shrine and pay their respects. It’s meant to be moving, cathartic… and then it turns deadly.

Tilly is found murdered, and Jack and Kate are called in to investigate. Suspects quickly stack up: creepy fellow mourner Noel, who may have been stalking Tilly; shifty restaurant critic Angel, hiding a serious secret; and Emiliano, a market trader with a police record and some very questionable contacts.

Things escalate when Piers inserts himself into the case, convinced Angel is involved — and promptly puts himself in harm’s way. Back at the station, Jack starts to worry Kate is keeping something from him, Marlowe’s erratic behaviour shows no sign of settling down, and Jamil continues training for his Ents officer audition, with enthusiastic help from Carole.

Grief, secrets, danger — and a standout guest turn from Linda Robson to kick it all off. Sounds like a solid night in.
