Sequel to hit series ‘Murder Before Evensong’ set for 2026

A follow-up to the popular five-part drama Murder Before Evensong is expected to arrive in 2026, theversion.co.uk understands.

After smashing ratings for its first series, the channel is returning to the world of Reverend Daniel Clement, with the second season likely to adapt the sequel to Rev. Cole’s story, A Death in the Parish. The first series became an instant hit with viewers, drawing in more than two million viewers per episode and earning praise from critics.

Set a few months after the original events, the new story finds Canon Daniel Clement trying to steady his flock in the wake of a devastating murder in the community of Champton. The parish merges with Upper and Lower Badsaddle, introducing a wave of unwelcome changes. However, church politics quickly become the least of Daniel’s worries. His headstrong mother, Audrey, is clearly hiding something, and she is not the only one. The tension escalates when murder returns to Champton, this time in the form of a shocking ritualistic killing.
