Sky releases teaser trailer for new supernatural thriller Possession

Sky has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Possession, a new five-part supernatural thriller led by Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Jonny Lee Miller that explores family secrets, colonial history and a haunting inheritance battle stretching from Bristol to Jamaica.

Sky has released a first-look teaser for Possession, a five-part limited event series that blends supernatural mystery with historical reckoning. The drama is created and written by Karla Crome (Something Very Bad is Going to Happen) and directed by Storm Saulter (Better Mus’ Come, Sprinter).

At the centre of the story is Claudia, played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, an ambitious young bi-racial lawyer who travels to Jamaica to contest an inheritance claim brought by local resident Cudjoe East, portrayed by Sheldon Shepherd, against wealthy aristocrat Oliver Connaught, played by Jonny Lee Miller.

The legal dispute takes a disturbing turn when Claudia discovers that the contested estate, Hope Hill, is the same plantation that has repeatedly appeared in her nightmares. As she and Oliver delve deeper into the property’s history, they uncover a troubling connection between the plantation’s violent past and the inequalities that continue to shape the present day.

Described as a supernatural thriller infused with the spirit and energy of Jamaica, Possession follows one woman’s journey into long-buried family secrets, questions of identity and the lingering grip of history.

The ensemble cast also includes Bel Powley as Charlotte, Nadean Rawlins as Mercy, Sean Gilder as Tom McKenzie, Olunike Adeliyi as Patsy Dawkins, Richard Dillane as Eugene Desfrienes, Diveen Henry as Flora, Jack Bandeira as Kenneth Connaught, Shantol Jackson as Sarah, Jeff Crossley as Angelo and Safina Simpson as Betina.

Possession is produced by Snowed-In in association with Sky Studios. The series is based on an original story by Jefferson Bannis, with executive producers including Ruth Kenley-Letts, Jenny van der Lande, Neil Blair, Karla Crome, Storm Saulter, Sam Hoyle, Serena Thompson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Jonny Lee Miller. Roxanne Harvey serves as development producer, while Kate Ogborn is the series producer.

The drama will debut on Sky in the UK and Ireland, with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handling international distribution rights.
