BBC Two to air Forty Years of Glastonbury Gems this Saturday

Glastonbury highlights return to BBC Two this Saturday as fans get special night of classic performances during festival’s fallow year.

Forty Years of Glastonbury Gems on the BBC

  • Forty Years of Glastonbury Gems airs on BBC Two and iPlayer this Saturday at 8.10pm.
  • The two-and-a-half-hour special will feature 40 unforgettable performances from Glastonbury’s archives.
  • Artists featured include Adele, Elton John, Dolly Parton, Oasis, Olivia Rodrigo, Stormzy, Kylie Minogue, Blur and The Rolling Stones.
  • Rarely seen footage of Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran and Olivia Dean will also be shown.
  • At 10.50pm, viewers can enjoy Rod Stewart’s 2025 Legends Slot performance, introduced by Clara Amfo and Lauren Laverne.

With Glastonbury Festival taking a well-deserved fallow year in 2026, the BBC is diving into the archives to celebrate four decades of unforgettable moments from Britain’s biggest music festival.

Forty Years of Glastonbury Gems will revisit 40 precious performances spanning from 1994 – when the festival was first televised – right through to last year’s event in 2025.

The special promises an incredible line-up of music legends and modern stars, with appearances from Adele, Blondie, Blur, Dolly Parton, Elton John, Florence + The Machine, Johnny Cash, Kylie Minogue, Lizzo, Oasis, Olivia Rodrigo, Paul McCartney, Pet Shop Boys, Pulp, REM, Radiohead, Robbie Williams, Stormzy, Sugababes and The Rolling Stones.

Fans will also be treated to rarely seen footage from the archives, including performances by Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran and Olivia Dean.

The celebrations continue from 10.50pm when Clara Amfo and Lauren Laverne introduce one of the most memorable performances from recent years – Sir Rod Stewart’s Glastonbury Festival Legends Slot from 2025.

The British singer, songwriter and producer returned to the Pyramid Stage for the first time in more than 20 years, having previously headlined the festival back in 2002.

Fresh from celebrating another number one album, Rod delighted the Worthy Farm crowd with his trademark raspy vocals and a set packed with beloved hits including Maggie May, You Wear It Well and Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?

Although there will be no live festival from Worthy Farm this year, Saturday night’s BBC special is set to be the next best thing, offering viewers a nostalgic journey through some of the greatest performances in Glastonbury history.

Forty Years of Glastonbury Gems airs on BBC Two and iPlayer this Saturday at 8.10pm, followed by Rod Stewart’s Glastonbury Festival Legends Slot at 10.50pm.
