Liza Tarbuck to host The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down.

Channel 4 has today announced The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down, hosted by Liza Tarbuck.

Channel 4 and Love Productions have unveiled a new five-part series, The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down, presented by actor, broadcaster, and author Liza Tarbuck.

The show brings together six well-known faces, all with little or no prior experience in pottery, as they take on a range of ambitious ceramic challenges. Stepping into the studio are comedian, writer, and actor Lucy Beaumont; comedian, writer, actor, and author Fatiha El-Ghorri; comedian and podcaster Richard Herring; former footballer and pundit Paul Merson; stage and screen performer Layton Williams; and actress, singer, dancer, and presenter Denise Van Outen.

This version of the popular format introduces a key change: instead of weekly eliminations, all six participants remain throughout the series. Over five episodes, they will develop their skills under the guidance of judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller. Points will be awarded for each challenge, with the top performers progressing to a final showdown where one celebrity will ultimately be named the series champion.

Audiences can look forward to a mix of imperfect attempts and impressive creations as the contestants build confidence and refine their techniques. The series will capture moments of tension and triumph, from anxious waits at the kiln to emotional reactions from the judges, as well as the increasing pressure of competition.

Reflecting on the experience, Liza Tarbuck shared her enjoyment of working alongside the judges, noting how their supportive and encouraging approach helped the beginners grow and made the process rewarding to witness.

Executive producer Luke Byrne expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Channel 4, highlighting the growing popularity of pottery and the opportunity to showcase the craft through the perspective of enthusiastic newcomers, potentially drawing in a broader audience.

Channel 4’s commissioning editor Deborah Dunnett described the series as uplifting and engaging, emphasizing the unique chance to follow complete beginners as they progress creatively toward a meaningful and visually striking finale, while also welcoming Liza Tarbuck to the programme.
