Miquita Oliver and Lily Allen to record new visualised episodes of hit podcast Miss Me?

BBC Sounds is set to release a series of new visualised episodes of the hit podcast Miss Me?, hosted by best friends Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver. The popular show from Persephonica offers listeners a chance to eavesdrop on the duo’s twice-weekly transatlantic chats, where they reflect on the ups and downs of their lives and offer timely cultural commentary.

Starting on Tuesday, March 25, at 5pm GMT, fans will be able to enjoy weekly visualised episodes of Listen Bitch! on the BBC Sounds YouTube channel. Long-time listeners will recognize the format, where Lily and Miquita respond honestly to audience questions on topics ranging from relationships to public transport. The first episode in this new visualised series will dive into the topic of menstruation.

This announcement comes on the heels of several major milestones for the beloved podcast, including its one-year anniversary, the release of its 100th episode, and two sold-out live shows at Hackney Empire in London, which earned a five-star review from The Telegraph. The show was praised as the “top society and culture podcast for women in the UK.” In under a year, Miss Me? has become one of the BBC’s top podcasts for listeners under 45 and 35, with strong performance in overall UK RSS downloads. It also took home a Gold Award for Best Entertainment Show at the 2024 British Podcast Awards.

Lily Allen says, “When we started the podcast a year ago, we had no idea what to expect. As proud as we are of the show’s success, seeing Listen Bitch take on a life of its own is so exciting because it’s been this unexpected opportunity to really connect with our audience every week.”

Miquita Oliver says, “When we first came up with the idea of Listen Bitch, we could have gone down the usual ‘ask us anything’ route, but as we hoped, the themes have been a connecting force throughout the country and have become the surprise hit of Miss Me?. The opportunity to have real intimacy with the world, has been an absolute pleasure for both Lily and I.”

Dylan Haskins, Commissioning Editor for BBC Radio 5 Live and Sounds, says, “One year in and Miss Me? has established a loyal fan base and has become one of the most popular podcasts among under 35s and under 45s on BBC Sounds and overall best performing podcasts for UK RSS downloads. On top of reaching the audience it was commissioned for, it has found success with awards, on social media, on stage, and now we’re bringing it to screen too. We’re excited to extend the format into visualised form, growing the BBC’s fantastic on-demand offering for listeners and diversifying the ways in which audiences can discover and enjoy shows.”

New audio episodes of Miss Me? will continue to be released twice a week on BBC Sounds. Listen Bitch! will drop first on Mondays, with the visualised episode following on the BBC Sounds YouTube channel at 5pm GMT on Tuesdays.
