The double BAFTA-winning genealogy series Who Do You Think You Are? is set to return to BBC One and iPlayer this Spring. Produced by Wall to Wall Media, the 22nd season features an impressive lineup of celebrities, including Andrew Garfield, Diane Morgan, Mishal Husain, Ross Kemp, Aisling Bea, Will Young, Fred Sirieix, and Layton Williams.
This new series of the beloved show will see eight celebrities uncover extraordinary family secrets as they explore their heritage. Spanning nearly 800 years of history, they will uncover captivating stories of tragic love, Hollywood glamour, as well as shocking revelations about war and slavery. Their journey takes them across the UK and around the world, including Jamaica, Morocco, India, Poland, Germany, Ireland, the USA, and France, as they search for answers.

In the upcoming season, audiences will follow BAFTA-winning, Oscar-nominated actor Andrew Garfield on an emotional journey from pre-WWII Poland to the Treblinka Nazi death camp, and on to the glamorous early days of Hollywood. Acclaimed actor, writer, and comedian Diane Morgan steps out of her role as the hapless historian Philomena Cunk to uncover her own family history, which involves a heartfelt love story and her ancestor’s courageous fight for the rights of her illegitimate children.

EastEnders icon and renowned documentary filmmaker Ross Kemp will find himself in Casablanca, unravelling a family mystery, discovering that his 4x great-grandfather was a drummer boy during the Napoleonic Wars. BAFTA-winning actress and writer Aisling Bea will delve into her Irish roots, uncovering how her family was shaped by tragic events in Irish history, telling a powerful tale of violence, resilience, and a deep passion for Irish independence. British pop icon and actor Will Young will explore his grandfather’s remarkable experience as a Bomber Command pilot during WWII, including being captured as a Prisoner of War in Germany, before tracing his family’s roots further back to uncover both villains and royalty.
Additionally, TV personality and top matchmaker Fred Sirieix will travel to France to investigate his family’s history, uncovering a wartime romance that rivals any First Dates story, alongside an unexpected connection to winemaking. Musical theatre star and actor Layton Williams will explore his London roots, uncovering a surprising musical legacy before heading to Jamaica, where he uncovers some painful family secrets. Journalist and broadcaster Mishal Husain will trace her distinguished family heritage, revealing an ancestor who served as a personal physician to a Maharaja, and unexpectedly finds herself traveling to the East Coast of the USA.
