TV Tonight: Blur Live on BBC Two

What to watch tonight: Blur: Live in the BBC Radio Theatre is the highlight in an evening of special shows featuring the band.

Tonight is Blur night on BBC Two. The highlight? Blur Live in the BBC Radio Theatre at 9pm, recorded for BBC Radio 2.

The set features a selection of classic blur tracks as well as new material. Over the years Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree have helped to change the face of British music, constantly evolving and leaving musical rivals in their wake. Known for their hits including Parklife, Girls and Boys and Coffee & TV, the band release their latest album, The Ballad of Darren, in July 2023. This programme will be available on BBC iPlayer for 30 days after broadcast.

But that’s not all. Before the gig is Blur Live at the BBC (8.20pm). Over the years, Damon, Graham, Alex and Dave have helped to change the face of British music, constantly evolving and leaving musical rivals in their wake. This collection of blur’s greatest performances on the BBC delivers all the hits and more, capturing the band’s crowd-pleasing side through fan favourites like Country House, Parklife, and Girls and Boys, as well as their more sensitive and soulful side with tracks including Coffee + TV, Beetlebum, Tender and Out of Time.

After the concert at 10.40pm, it’s Blur’s set from Glastonbury Festival. Enjoy highlights of blur's triumphant gig on the Pyramid Stage in June 2009 at Worthy Farm. Having only played a handful of small shows beforehand, their reunion on arguably the biggest musical stage in the world made for one of the most memorable finales in the history of the festival. It didn't disappoint, as a nervous but excitable band and a show full of crowd-pleasing hits made it a 'you had to be there' night.

The night ends at 11.40pm with a compilation of blur's appearances on Top of the Pops. First broadcast in 1999.
