Humax TV Tonight: George Clarke’s Adventures in Americana visits New Orleans

George Clarke’s Adventures in Americana is a brand new series starting tonight at 9pm on Channel 4, as George visits New Orleans.

In this brand-new series, George Clarke heads to the United States to explore Americana; the architecture and design movement that's fascinated him since he was a kid. Americana is a byword for nostalgia; for a period when the country's future was big, bold and exciting.

Taking the path less travelled, George discovers how the golden age of Americana laid the foundations for the most iconic country in the world and meets the people keeping its spirit alive. In this first episode, George travels 650 miles from New Orleans in Louisiana to the Deep South 'Cowboy Capital of the World' in Bandera, Texas.

He learns how waves of immigration from Europe over 300 years has shaped the distinctly different styles of architecture found across these two states. George also explores the Americana that's emerged from these two wildly contrasting neighbours; from an eye-opening walking tour of New Orleans and a harrowing visit to a slave plantation, to a day spent deep in the Bayou swamps with self-confessed 'rednecks'. And, at a buffalo ranch and bull riding rodeo, George goes from Creole to Cowboy!

All episodes will be available to stream on Channel 4 following the transmission of this episode
