New Capital schedules launch this weekend

News: Capital, Capital Dance and Capital XTRA will all launch new schedules this weekend.

At Capital, there are new shows for Kemi Rodgers and Sonny Jay. Kemi adds weekend mid-mornings 9am to 12 noon, in addition to her overnight shows which continue Monday to Wednesday on Capital.

Host of The Capital Late show, Sonny Jay, will now also be turning up the energy on Saturdays from 4pm to 7pm. thanks to his popularity in the 10pm weekday slot.

There are changes to the Capital Weekender too, with Meg McHugh taking on Saturday’s 10pm to 1am slot as well as conitinuing her regular Friday night Weekender slot. Meg will also take on Sunday’s late show on Capital, 10pm to 1am.

Brent Tobin, Managing Editor of the Capital brand, said: “I’m delighted that we’ve got a fresh new show for Sonny Jay who’s been storming it with The Capital Late Show, adding thousands of listeners since taking the reins at the start of the year. I’m so pleased for Kemi to join weekends and for Meg McHugh to take on more shows on Capital."

There are changes too at Global’s increasingly popular Capital Dance station. Zofia is the new host of weekday evenings, launching a new show 7pm – 10pm Monday to Thursday from next week.

And there are loads of changes at Capital XTRA. Former KISS FM DJ Omah Howard will take the reins of the prestigious mid-morning slot on Capital XTRA Monday to Friday from 10am – 1pm. Omah joined Capital XTRA in September 2022 as the host of the Capital XTRA Evening Show and has since interviewed some of the world’s biggest artists. Omah is taking over mid-mornings from the legendary Manny Norté, one of the UK’s most respected figures in music, who will continue to host his huge Saturday and Sunday night shows, going into the mix Saturdays 7pm – 11pm and Sundays 7pm – 10pm.

In-demand Manchester DJ Kennedy Taylor, who has played in London, Dubai and Lisbon, as well as DJing for the likes of RAYE and Ms Banks, joins Capital XTRA this autumn, jumping into Friday nights from 11pm – 1am.

After two years of building a loyal fan base on Capital, Kamilla Rose moves to sister station Capital XTRA to host Monday to Thursday, 7pm – 10pm. West London presenter Jojo Silva will be keeping listeners company in the early hours as she takes over Monday to Friday from 4am – 6.30am on the station. Jojo has been covering on Capital XTRA but will now take a permanent slot on the schedule this Autumn.

Glory Beyi will be serving up the hottest Hip Hop and RnB bangers Saturday and Sunday mornings from 6am – 9am.

Remel London will be leaving Saturday afternoons but will remain as the voice-over artist on Capital. Jourds becomes the new host of Saturdays and Sundays, 4-7pm.
