Chappell Roan wins Radio 1’s Sound of 2025

Chappell Roan has been crowned Radio 1’s Sound of 2025 winner. The US pop sensation was selected by a panel of over 180 industry experts and artists, including Elton John, Dua Lipa, and Sam Smith.
Her meteoric rise began in 2024, fueled by significant support from Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, Mollie King, and Sian Eleri. In May 2024, she was honored as ‘Future Artist of the Month.’ The Missouri-born singer-songwriter captivated global audiences with her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Although the album, released in 2023, received critical acclaim, its chart-topping success and international fanbase blossomed in 2024, earning a Grammy nomination for ‘Album of the Year.’
Chappell Roan’s remarkable year included performing for the largest-ever crowd at Lollapalooza in Chicago, opening Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS tour, selling out UK shows, appearing on Saturday Night Live, and topping the UK Albums Chart.

Previous honorees include global icons like Stormzy, Lady Gaga, RAYE, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, and Lewis Capaldi.
