Pop Culture News: Sky issues first look picture of Matt Smith in Sky Original ‘The Death of Bunny Munro’, coming 2025.
Today, Sky has released a first-look image from the upcoming six-part limited series The Death of Bunny Munro. The series stars BAFTA and Emmy-nominated actor Matt Smith in the title role. Joining him in the newly unveiled image is newcomer Rafael Mathé, who plays Bunny Junior. Written by BAFTA winner Pete Jackson (Somewhere Boy) and directed by BAFTA-nominated Isabella Eklöf (Industry, Holiday), the series is adapted from Nick Cave’s second novel. Produced by Clerkenwell Films in collaboration with Sky Studios, the show also sees the internationally acclaimed musician, screenwriter, and novelist Nick Cave serving as Executive Producer.
After the suicide of his wife, Libby, Bunny Munro—a sex-addicted door-to-door beauty product salesman and self-proclaimed ladies’ man—finds himself unexpectedly responsible for his young son, Bunny Junior, with only a vague grasp of how to parent. The pair set off on a chaotic road trip across Southern England, grappling with their grief in vastly different ways.
As Bunny jumps from one sales pitch to another, attempting to seduce every woman he encounters, Bunny Junior fills his time conversing with the ghost of his mother and gradually realizing that his father is more than flawed—he’s a complete disaster. As Bunny begins to unravel, he is forced to confront his own toxic ideas of masculinity and take action to save his son.
The Death of Bunny Munro is a darkly comedic cautionary tale and a heartfelt exploration of the bond between a father and son.
