Global, the Media and Entertainment Group, has announced an exciting shakeup for Gold Radio, the station renowned for its playlist of timeless classics from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. A new lineup of presenters and shows is set to debut on Monday, 6th January 2025, promising to bring fresh energy to the station while celebrating music legends such as The Beatles, ABBA, Queen, Stevie Wonder, and Diana Ross.
At the heart of the revamp is Kirsty Gallacher, one of the UK’s most beloved broadcasters. Having won listeners over on Global’s Smooth, Kirsty will now helm Gold Radio Drive with Kirsty Gallacher, airing Monday to Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. “I’m thrilled to be joining the iconic Gold Radio,” Kirsty said. “Live radio is such a buzz, and I can’t wait to play the best all-time classics, connect with loyal listeners, and hopefully welcome some new fans along the way.”
Another exciting addition is celebrity chef, presenter, and music enthusiast Simon Rimmer. Best known for co-hosting Sunday Brunch on Channel 4, Simon is making his radio debut with a Saturday morning show from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. “Hosting my own radio show is a dream come true,” Simon shared. “To do it on Gold Radio, sharing my favorite tracks with listeners, is the perfect gig. It’s like going through my personal music collection every week!”
Gold Radio legend James Bassam will continue to kick off the weekdays with Gold Radio Breakfast with James Bassam, now airing from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. His popular Gold Radio Hall of Fame segment, which celebrates listeners’ favorite tracks, will feature from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. James will also host a new Sunday morning show from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
