Elton John tells fans he has lost his eyesight

“I’ve lost my eyesight and cannot see the stage” Sir Elton John told fans.

Sir Elton John recently revealed a significant health challenge, sharing that he has lost the sight in his right eye due to an infection. The iconic singer, 77, attended The Devil Wears Prada musical premiere but left early, as he continues to navigate the impact of his condition.

Elton disclosed that the infection, contracted during the summer while in the South of France, has left him blind in one eye and struggling with productivity. Reflecting on his experience in an interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, he explained the difficulty of adapting to his circumstances.

In an interview with Good Morning America, he said: I unfortunately lost my eye sight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the South of France.”

The superstar added: “It’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see. My left eye is not the greatest. It’s been a while since I’ve done anything. I just have to get off my backside.”

The legendary performer admitted that the vision loss has been a profound setback, saying it’s been four months since the issue arose. He noted that his left eye, which was already compromised, has made day-to-day activities and his work in the studio increasingly challenging. Despite these struggles, Elton remains optimistic that his eyesight could improve over time.

Promoting his latest documentary, Elton John: It’s Never Too Late, the singer acknowledged the frustration of his current limitations, but he expressed hope for recovery and eventual return to creative pursuits.
