What will James Norton be in next, after 'Playing Nice'?

James Norton is currently starring in ITV drama ‘Playing Nice’, the first project he has also produced. But with the drama coming to a shocking end this week, what can you see him in next?

King & Conqueror

King & Conqueror is an epic new drama airing on BBC One later this year. It tells the story of a pivotal clash that shaped the destiny of a nation—and an entire continent—for a millennium. Its roots span decades, intertwining the histories of two rival dynasties locked in a power struggle across two countries and a stormy sea. Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy, once allies with no initial ambition for the British throne, were drawn by circumstance and personal ambition into a monumental conflict for its crown, culminating in the iconic Battle of Hastings in 1066.

Like Playing Nice, this series is executive produced by James Norton via his company Rabbit Track Pictures.

House of Guinness

James Norton also has another huge new drama coming in 2025, House of Guinness. This gritty new drama is from Stephen Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders.

Here’s how Netflix describe it: “HOUSE OF GUINNESS will tell the epic story of one of Europe’s most famous and enduring dynasties – The Guinness Family. Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, the story will focus on the consequences of the death of Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery, and the far-reaching impact of his cunning will on the fate of his four adult children, Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben, as well as on a group of Dublin characters who work and interact with the growing juggernaut that is Guinness.”

The series also stars Dervla Kirwan and Anthony Boyle.

There is no release date yet, but it’s expected to air in the autumn.

Until then, you can stream all of ‘Playing Nice’ on ITVX. Set against a sweeping Cornish landscape, two couples discover that their toddlers were switched at birth in a hospital mix-up, and face a horrifying dilemma: do they keep the sons they have raised and loved, or reclaim their biological child? Living a waking nightmare, Pete (James Norton) and Maddie (Niamh Algar) are jettisoned into the world of the other couple; Miles (James McArdle) and Lucy (Jessica Brown Findlay). At first it seems all four are agreed on a solution, but it soon becomes clear that hidden motives are at play. How far can each couple trust the real parents of their child – or even each other? As Pete and Maddie are stretched to breaking point, they realise they will stop at nothing to keep their family together.
