All seven seasons of this groundbreaking drama have been remastered in HD and UHD, making their UK and Ireland debut on Sky and NOW from February 14th.
A three-time Peabody Award winner and four-time Emmy® Award winner, Homicide: Life on the Street is widely regarded as one of the most influential police dramas in television history. Premiering in 1993 and running for 122 episodes, the series redefined the TV landscape and is often credited as paving the way for classics like The Sopranos and The Wire. Critics have heaped praise on the show, with IGN describing it as “one of the most gripping TV shows of the last 20 years” and Vulture calling it “arguably the best cop show of all time.”
Set against the gritty backdrop of 1990s Baltimore, the series draws inspiration from real-life murder investigations. Created by Paul Attanasio and based on David Simon’s book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets (the foundation for The Wire), the show offers an unflinching portrayal of a Baltimore homicide division’s intense detective work. Its stellar ensemble cast features acclaimed performers such as the late Andre Braugher (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, She Said), Richard Belzer (Law & Order, Scarface), and Academy Award winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter, Prisoners).
The series also boasts an impressive roster of guest stars, including Chris Rock, Robin Williams, Paul Giamatti, Edie Falco, Jake Gyllenhaal, Luis Guzmán, Marcia Gay Harden, Steve Buscemi, and Vincent D’Onofrio.
Jamie Morris, Executive Director Content Strategy and Performance for Sky, said: “We’re delighted that this iconic series is coming to the UK and Ireland and cannot wait for our customers to experience all seven series. There’s been endless anticipation from fans who can’t wait to have it back on British screens, so we’re excited to be working with our incredible partners at Sky, giving both loyal and new audiences the chance to experience this remastered version not only on linear, but on streaming for the first time.”
