You could be the BBC’s newest football expert

BBC Creator Lab is partnering with BBC Sport and BBC Radio 1 to launch an innovative talent search for a new BBC Football expert, who will create digital content for BBC Sport across TV, radio, digital platforms, and social media. This expert will contribute to programs like Football Focus and BBC Radio 5Live. Building on last year’s successful collaboration, BBC Creator Lab is once again teaming up with TikTok, which will help promote and discover the UK’s most talented creators while providing training and skill development.

Aspiring football creators are invited to compete in an exciting new reality show, with the winner earning a sought-after role as a BBC Football digital content creator. Updates and highlights from the competition will be shared on Radio 1 as the contestants vie for the top spot.

The search will culminate in a reality competition series that will air on the BBC ahead of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025. Further details about the show and the production team behind it will be announced soon.

Fiona Campbell, BBC iPlayer and BBC Three’s Controller for Youth Audiences, said, “This is our biggest opportunity for creators yet! It’s a chance to work with the BBC’s top Sport team, appear on the UK’s major football shows, Radio 1, and in a digital series. We’re excited to find and collaborate with the UK’s most dynamic football creators!”

Alex Kay-Jelski, BBC Sport Director, encouraged football enthusiasts to apply, saying, “If you think you know football like no one else, this is your chance. Working with the BBC’s football team could truly be life-changing.”

Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1, shared his excitement: “I’m thrilled to be part of this project with BBC Creator Lab and BBC Sport. It’s a fantastic opportunity for up-and-coming football voices, and we’re excited to bring our young listeners along for the journey.”

Melissa McFarlane, Head of Operations for TikTok UK & Nordics, added, “We’ve seen past TikTok creators from the BBC Creator Lab program thrive, so we’re thrilled to support this new partnership with BBC Sport and BBC Radio 1. Football has a vibrant community on TikTok, and we look forward to seeing fresh perspectives from new creators!”

Applications will open soon on the Creator Lab website, where full details, terms, and conditions will be available.
