A League of their Own series 18 to film next month

icymiofficial.com Sky One’s long-running football panel show A League of their Own will begin filming on 4 September.

The comedy-entertainment show will tape the first episode of its 18th season at BBC Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire The new series will see Lioness Jill Scott, who captained a team on a special edition of ALOTO, become a full time panelist, replacing Freddie Flintoff who is taking a break from TV following an accident whilst recording Top Gear.

Romesh Ranganathan, host of hit show A League Of Their Own, comments: “It’s brilliant to be able to welcome Jill Scott, a legend of the game and national treasure, to the A League of Their Own family as a new team captain. And with her own statue almost as bronze as Jamie Redknapp.”

Jamie Redknapp, opposing team captain, comments: “What can I say – Jill Scott, a proper champion and England hero. I can’t wait to go head to head with her each week on A League of Their Own – she might have won a European Cup with the Lionesses, but does she have what it takes to win against the Red team?!”

Micah Richards, regular guest panellist, comments: “I’ve known Jill Scott for over a decade and I couldn’t think of anyone better placed to wear the armband for the blue team on the new series of A League Of Their Own. She’s the ultimate captain. I’m buzzing to start filming on the new series and am confident Jill and I will be getting the better of the red team.”

Guests on the 18th series of ALOTO are set to include singer Tom Grennan, comedian Rob Beckett and BBC Sports anchor Gaby Logan.

A League Of Their Own will return to Sky MAX in late September 2023. Free tickets to the recording of the first episode are available via Applause Store.
