Stream It: Avoidance

Avoidance is Romesh Ranganathan's BBC One comedy series.

Jonathan (Romesh Ranganathan) is back and he’s reinvented himself. He may have a new body, a new hobby, and a lot of lycra, but he’s still stuck avoiding conflict and all the mess that causes. Jonathan is determined to win back his ex-partner Claire (Jessica Knappett) and rebuild his family and make son, Spencer (Kieran Logendra) happy.

However, any chance of their love rekindling is complicated by new love interests Brett (Matthew Lewis) and Megan (Aisling Bea). Meanwhile, Jonathan’s sister, Dan (Mandeep Dhillon) and her wife Courtney (Lisa McGrillis) are expecting a baby and feel anything but ready.

Waking up in Megan’s house, Jonathan asks her if they can keep their budding romance under wraps for the time being.

Dan tells Courtney she wants them to explore ‘Gentle Parenting’, giving her a book to read as she rushes off to meet with her idol Professor Gillespie (Jacqueline Boatswain). She is offered the job of her dreams, but the conditions might prove tricky with a baby boy on the way... so will she accept it?

Courtney and Dan accidentally end up putting ‘Gentle Parenting’ into practice sooner than planned, with Courtney’s friends’ children. Chaos ensues and Dan broaches the subject of her new job offer.

Jonathan drops in on Claire and gets more than he bargained for in the form of a shirtless Brett. Jonathan and Claire have a serious discussion about whether it’s age appropriate for Spencer to sleep over at the home of his new friend from jiu-jitsu, Sam (Olive Tennant).

Cue the intervention as the pair try a two-pronged approach to extract Spencer, which inadvertently ends up in them having the world’s most awkward dinner with Sam’s warring parents (Luke McQueen and Louise Ford).
