Sophie Ellis-Bextor in the Radio 1 Live Lounge

Sophie Ellis-Bextor is performing in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge this Tuesday from midday and you can stream it live or later with the BBC Sounds app.

Fresh from performing at the BAFTA's, Sophie will join Rickie, Melvin and Charlie for a special version of 'Murder on the Dancefloor' plus a brand new cover version. Incredibly, 'Murder on the Dancefloor' was first released way back in 2001 but it's currently at the top end of the official UK singles chart thanks to its use in Prime Video film, 'Saltburn'.

The singer/songwriter has described te song's resurrgence in popularity as "really magical".

She told the BBC “It’s extraordinary. It’s a song I’ve been singing for over 20 years. I still love singing it. I love the way people react when I do it live. But for new people to be discovering it, for it to be making new memories with people is kind of beautiful.”

According to the BBC the song has had more than 40 million views on TikTok alone. It's led Sophie to land a new record deal and her diary is full of live appearances in the Summer.

Listen to Sophie performing the track on BBC Sounds.
