Footballing rivalries will be set aside for a vital cause as Channel 5 prepares to broadcast “Game4Hope,” a major charity fixture uniting legendary players, celebrities, and global icons on one pitch.

Organized by LGNDS—the production team behind high-profile fundraising matches like Game4Grenfell and Game4Ukraine—the unique showcase pits a joint Everton/Liverpool XI against a international Rest of the World XI. The match aims to raise funds for Everton in the Community and Shelter as both charities work to tackle homelessness across Merseyside and beyond.

Experienced multi-sport broadcaster Katie Shanahan and award-winning sports presenter Ade Oladipo will lead 5’s live coverage. Shanahan brings extensive experience from major international football tournaments, the Olympics, and the World Snooker Tour, while Oladipo is widely recognized for his work across global football and boxing networks.

On the pitch, the local combined XI boasts heavy managerial and playing pedigree. Everton great Peter Reid and Liverpool legend John Barnes will co-manage the squad, led on the field by captain Tim Cahill. The local side’s lineup features iconic names including Leighton Baines, Gareth Barry, Phil Jagielka, Yakubu, Robbie Fowler, David James, Ryan Babel, Jari Litmanen, John Aldridge, Joleon Lescott, and Louis Saha. They will share the pitch with prominent personalities including Tony Bellew, Big Zuu, Molly McCann, Still Ryan, James Nelson-Joyce, and John Bishop.

Facing them is an elite Rest of the World XI co-captained by World Cup winner Rivaldo and Dutch maestro Clarence Seedorf. The squad also features former World Cup-winning Brazilian captain Cafu, Champions League winners Jaap Stam and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Mustapha Hadji, and Des Walker. Joining the roster are popular culture figures including Ted Lasso actors Toheeb Jimoh and Moe Hashim, Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (Nitro), Johnny Nelson, and Jack Fowler. Additional players and guest appearances are scheduled to be announced closer to matchday, with musician Tinie Tempah confirmed to deliver the half-time musical performance.

Raphael Pendergast, Director of Sport, 5 said: “We’re delighted to work with LGNDS and Everton FC to bring this brilliant event to 5. With a stellar lineup of football legends on the pitch, its an unmissable event for a fantastic cause.”
