In a touching collaboration for BBC Children in Need, Academy Award, Golden Globe, and three-time BAFTA winner Gary Oldman will lend his voice to a special CBeebies Bedtime Story, announced live from the BBC Children in Need studio on The One Show. The story will air as part of BBC Children in Need’s 2024 broadcast on Friday night.
Reflecting on the opportunity, Gary Oldman shared, “Stories have a unique way of inspiring imagination and hope in young minds. It feels like hope is especially scarce for young people these days, so I’m truly honored to be reading this special CBeebies Bedtime Story for BBC Children in Need. I hope it brings warmth, encouragement, and a sense of hope to children and families tuning in.”
Known for iconic roles in Harry Potter, The Dark Knight Trilogy, his Oscar-winning portrayal of Winston Churchill, and more recently Slow Horses, Oldman will bring his celebrated storytelling talents to this CBeebies tale. Written by Claire Taylor and inspired by a true story, the piece will feature illustrations by Tim Budgen and promises to offer a heartwarming experience for all viewers.
Watch BBC Children in Need on BBC iPlayer and BBC One on Friday 15 November from 7pm, live from MediaCity, Salford.
