Rita Simmons joins Hollyoaks

Rita Simons is set to make her presence felt on ‘Hollyoaks’ as she joins the cast, while Nicole Barber-Lane is making a return to the soap. Rita, known for her role in ‘EastEnders,’ will portray Marie, the mother of Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas Speed), and her character is expected to stir up trouble in the village.

Marie, fresh out of prison, will sneak into Chester and kick off her arrival by swiping Mercedes McQueen’s (Jennifer Metcalfe) red dress from the McQueen washing line, setting the stage for dramatic events in the village.

Tyler Conti will also make an entrance as Cleo McQueen’s (Nadine Mulkerrin) boyfriend, Abe, a charming yet manipulative personal trainer with a troubled past. Tyler teased an explosive introduction for Abe, promising danger, manipulation, and a complicated family dynamic.

Nicole Barber-Lane is set to reprise her role as Myra McQueen, the matriarch of the McQueen family, making a brief return alongside her on-screen nieces Cleo and Theresa (Jorgie Porter). Myra, absent from the village since her departure for Alicante in 2019, will be back for a short stint.

Expressing her joy about returning, Nicole highlighted the welcoming atmosphere of the ‘Hollyoaks’ set, describing it as a home with open arms. Nadine Mulkerrin, excited about her return as Cleo, hinted at explosive storylines involving her character and Joel, along with the introduction of a mysterious new man, Abe, who brings a few red flags into the mix. Fans can anticipate unfinished business between Cleo and Joel, adding to the intrigue of the upcoming plotlines.
