The BBC, along with co-producers Red Planet Pictures and BBC Studios Australia Productions, has unveiled the first trailer and fresh images for Return to Paradise, an eagerly awaited Australian spin-off of the popular murder mystery series Death in Paradise.
The full series will be available on BBC iPlayer starting Friday, November 22, with its first episode airing on BBC One at 8 p.m. the same night.
Set against the scenic backdrop of Dolphin Cove, the newly released trailer and images introduce Anna Samson (Dead Lucky, Wake in Fright, Jack Irish) as DI Mackenzie Clarke and Colin Cartwright (Ted Lasso, Nolly) as Detective S.C. Lloyd Griffith, diving into a new case.
Tai Hara (Home and Away, Colin from Accounts, Austin) brings effortless coastal cool to his role as Glenn Strong, joined by Celia Ireland (Wentworth, Total Control) as police volunteer Reggie Rocco and Aaron McGrath (Gold Diggers, Preppers) as PC Felix Wilkinson, forming an unexpected yet essential duo in the team’s coastal investigations.
The cast also features Catherine McClements (Total Control, Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries) and Andrea Demetriades (Mother and Son, The Artful Dodger).
Return to Paradise centers on DI Mackenzie Clarke, an Australian ex-pat who has built a reputation in London’s Metropolitan Police for cracking impossible murder cases. However, when she’s accused of evidence tampering, Mackenzie finds herself forced to return to Australia—to her least desired destination, her hometown of Dolphin Cove. Six years after fleeing, famously ditching her ex-fiancé Glenn at the altar, Mackenzie is anything but welcomed back.
With no other job prospects, Mack reluctantly joins the Dolphin Cove Police Station. Known for her exceptional talent at solving mysteries, she’s driven to resolve every case that crosses her desk and bring the culprit to justice. This relentless determination might just be her way of eventually winning over her new colleagues and, perhaps, the people of Dolphin Cove.
