Chart success for Kylie, James Blunt and more after Radio 2 in the Park

News: With more than 13 million people listening and watching to Radio 2 in the Park this weekend, it’s little surprise that the event has had a huge impact on sales for performers including Kylie Minogue and James Blunt.

Kylie’s single Padam Padam has shot back up the streaming charts and is currently sitting at No.3 on iTunes. Right behind it, and number 4, her new single Tension.

It’s a huge boost for the Australian pop icon who can expect a big No.1 album next week, with new album Tension which drops on Friday.

The Radio 2 in the Park effect has also benefitted James Blunt. His single Beside You is currently at No.9 according to the live iTunes singles chart in the UK.

Elsewhere, Free Yourself, is sitting at No.11, and Rick Astley will be pleased to see his new single Never Gonna Stop at No.27.

Incredibly, Tears For Fears’ Everybody Wants to Rule the World is also inside the iTunes top 40, at No.35.

It’s only Monday, and it’s going to take some staying power for these tracks to do well on Friday’s official chart or Sunday’s Big Top 40 chart, but it shows the power of the festival on streams.

A source told icymi.co.uk “not that she needs it, but having thirteen million people watch you perform live for more than an hour on TV is going to do great things for your sales!

As an added boost, Kylie was listened to by millions on Radio 2, on BBC Sounds, and her set is going to air on BBC Two next weekend, so there’s no doubt that Tension is going to smash the album charts”.
