Robbie Williams and Sophie Ellis Bextor's New Year's Eve concerts slammed by fans
New Years Eve concerts featuring Robbie Williams and Sophie Ellis-Bextor were slammed by fans last night.
Robbie performed live in Sydney, Australia, where his new biopic 'Better Man' was filmed. But fans didn't appreciate his conduct on stage nor his performance. Comments from fans included:
"The taxpayers funding Robbie Williams is an odd way to end and start. Absolutely f**ked," wrote one fan.
"Never seen anything like that a new low for the #abc," and "Is Robbie Williams okay? What was wrong with him last night? @ABC" were other comments posted.
"Robbie Williams is busy posing & promoting himself, how about singing a song," said another angry viewer.
Many more were annoyed that the non-commercial broadcaster ABC enabled promotion for Williams's film whilst some viewers claimed he appeared to be "high" and "rude". In the UK, he appeared on a pre-recorded edition of 'The Graham Norton Show' which left many viewers asking "is he ok?".
On BBC One, fans were treated two a two-part pre-recorded concert by Sophie Ellis-Bextor. That also left viewers disappointed.
One viewer wrote: "What on earth is happening with @BBCOne #NewYear show. Poor Sophie-Ellis Bextor can’t even keep up with her own songs, a breathless mess. Just lip-sync and then you can at least nail the stage presence.. this is cringe!"
Another joked "In 2025 assisted will become a thign dying . To help with that the bbc have got SophieEllis-Bextor".
Viewers can catch up with Sophie's show on BBC iPlayer.
