Entertainment News: Nothing Compares 2 U tops UK iTunes Chart

Sinead O’Connor’s Nothing Compares 2 U could be No.1 on this week’s Official Big Top 40 Chart, announced today.

The track, which originally topped the charts back in 1990, is currently No.1 in the UK iTunes chart, which informs the Big Top 40, together with airplay and streams. It could also mean the song tops toe Official Chart, to be announced this Friday on BBC Radio 1.

The Irish singer and activist, 56, was found at her home in Herne Hill, London last Wednesday. O'Connor's family announced the news of her death on Wednesday evening "with great sadness", saying "her family and friends are devastated".

The Police Statement in full read: “"Police were called at 11:18hrs on Wednesday, 26 July to reports of an unresponsive woman at a residential address in the SE24 area. Officers attended. A 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been notified. The death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the Coroner."
