Steve Wright’s Summer Nights is coming to Radio 2

Radio 2 favourite Steve Wright is to host a brand new series of shows for one week, from Monday 21 August. In a change to the usual line-up, Steve will mix summer tunes with listener shout-outs, between 7 - 9pm (Monday to Thursday).
The official BBC listing reads: “From Monday to Thursday this week, Steve Wright will be live with the songs that sound good in the summer, from L.A. soft rock, to Summer of Love hits and the coolest contemporary Summer tunes.
Steve will also be playing listeners’ summer shout-outs to provide the perfect soundtrack to sunny evenings”.
The news will please fans of the DJ, who has presented a number of specials on the station, alongside his Sunday Morning Love Songs show, since leaving the afternoon slot.
The schedule change comes as Jo Whiley takes a summer break. Next week, Edith Bowman will fill in for her, before Steve takes over the reigns and Jo will be back on Tuesday, 29 August, as a Piano Room special will air on the Bank Holiday Monday.
There’s more Wrighty on Bank Holiday Monday, when he presents a special show counting down listener’s favourite Kylie Minogue songs.
The results will be revealed in a countdown chart, Your Ultimate Kylie Song, presented by Steve Wright – exclusively available on BBC Sounds from Monday 21 August and broadcast on Radio 2 on Monday 28 August from 4-7pm. A BBC Audio production.

Radio 2 in the Park will be Radio 2’s biggest ever live music event outside London and the stellar line-up exclusively features Tears for Fears headlining the Saturday night with their only UK festival appearance this year, and Kylie Minogue headlining the Sunday night with her first live UK full concert performance for four years.
