BBC Two confirm lineup for Blur night

BBC Two have an evening of programming for fans of the band Blur on Saturday 29 July.

Starting at 8.25pm with Blur at the BBC, fans can enjoy a night of performances from the britpop legends. Over the years, Damon, Graham, Alex and Dave have helped to change the face of British music, constantly evolving and leaving musical rivals in their wake. This collection of blur’s greatest performances on the BBC delivers all the hits and more, capturing the band’s crowd-pleasing side through fan favourites like Country House, Parklife, and Girls and Boys’ as well as their more sensitive and soulful side with tracks including Coffee + TV, Beetlebum, Tender and Out of Time.

At 9.25pm, BBC Two broadcasts a special Radio 2 In Concert performance from blur, recorded in the BBC Radio Theatre (Broadcasting House, London) on Tuesday 18 July in front of a small audience.

The set features a selection of classic blur tracks as well as new material. Over the years Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree have helped to change the face of British music, constantly evolving and leaving musical rivals in their wake. Known for their hits including Parklife, Girls and Boys and Coffee & TV, the band release their latest album, The Ballad of Darren, in July 2023. This programme will be available on BBC iPlayer for 30 days after broadcast.

Then at 10.25pm, fans can enjoy highlights of blur's triumphant gig on the Pyramid Stage in June 2009 at Worthy Farm. Having only played a handful of small shows beforehand, their reunion on arguably the biggest musical stage in the world made for one of the most memorable finales in the history of the festival. It didn't disappoint, as a nervous but excitable band and a show full of crowd-pleasing hits made it a 'you had to be there' night.

The night draws to a close at 11.25pm with a compilation of blur's appearances on Top of the Pops.
