Katie Thistleton rumoured for Strictly
Entertainment News: The BBC Radio 1 DJ could be about to swap the radio studio for the dance floor.
Katie Thistleton is the latest celebrity to be linked with this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing. The 34 year old TV and radio presenter found fame as a CBBC presenter, before joining BBC Radio 1 to host the popular Life Hacks Show and Official Chart: First Look. She also regularly stands in for Vick Hope, presenting alongside Jordan North in the afternoons.
A source told us “Everybody at Radio 1 loves Katie, she is full of personality and humour but also grafts very hard. She’d be perfect on Strictly.
Among schedule changes last July, Katie took over Radio 1’s weekend show (Friday and Saturday, 10.30am – 1pm) which will broadcast from Salford in her home city of Manchester.
In her TV work, Katie has presented on The One Show, Morning Live and This Morning. She has also hosted numerous documentaries for BBC Three, on topics ranging from anti-depressants to the Kardashians, and recently a series called ‘I’ve Been There’ for the teen audience, on topics such as knife crime, cosmetic surgery, anxiety and depression.
If she does take part in the new series, she’ll follow in the footsteps of former Radio 1 DJ’s Dev Griffin, DJ Spoony, and Scott Mills, plus current presenter Vick Hope.
Casualty actor Nigel Harman, theatre star Les Dennis, presenter Angela Rippon, Loose Woman Brenda Edwards and Waterloo Road’s Adam Thomas are also rumoured to be taking part in the 2023 season.
The BBC will begin unveiling this year’s celebrity lineup in the coming days, before the series launches in September.
