King and Conqueror

King and Conqueror will be available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer

The extended trailer introduces the captivating new track titled "Mother Nature." It features mesmerizing lyrics penned and performed by RAYE, complemented by the enchanting vocals of Bastille's frontman, Dan Smith. These lyrics beautifully capture the Earth's awe-inspiring beauty, fragility, and resilience, themes central to the upcoming series. The visuals in the extended trailer provide a tantalizing glimpse into the extraordinary animals from various corners of the globe, all of which were filmed during a remarkable five-year project. Some of the breathtaking scenes include a leopard leaping an astounding 30 feet in Southern Africa, a wild rhino strolling through the bustling streets of a Nepalese town, and a multitude of skydiving tree frogs in the Costa Rican jungle.

"Mother Nature" made its global debut on Greg James's BBC Radio 1 breakfast show. The reveal of the "Planet Earth III" extended trailer was simultaneously released on multiple channels, including BBC Earth and various BBC Studios' social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. It will also be featured on the social media accounts of Hans Zimmer, RAYE, and Bastille.

Over the past year, a collaborative effort involving Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea, Sara Barone, producer Russell Emanuel, and Bastille's Dan Smith has shaped the musical landscape of "Planet Earth III." Dan Smith lends his vocals not only to the opening title theme song but also to all episodes of the series. Additionally, their collaborative reimagining of Bastille's hit single, "Pompeii," titled "Pompeii MMXXIII," graces the series' end credits.

Hans Zimmer, a two-time Oscar winner, joined forces with his long-term collaborators from Bleeding Fingers Music, producer Russell Emanuel and arranger Andrew Christie, to craft these stunning soundscapes. Their previous collaborations include the BAFTA-nominated score for "Planet Earth II" and acclaimed music for "Blue Planet II" and "Frozen Planet II."

Hans Zimmer expressed his privilege in working on BBC's Natural History series, highlighting the epic stories unfolding in our planet's ecosystem. He also emphasized the honor of collaborating with talents like Bastille and RAYE, resulting in a magnificent soundscape and the poignant track "Mother Nature."

RAYE, a self-proclaimed "Planet Earth stan," expressed her deep admiration for the series, which she has followed devoutly for years. The opportunity to compose a song with Hans Zimmer, one of her heroes, left her in disbelief. Hearing Sir David Attenborough narrate alongside her voice brought her to tears, and she considers contributing to this significant documentary series an honor.

For Dan Smith of Bastille, working on the music for "Planet Earth III" with such talented musicians has been a dream come true. Growing up watching David Attenborough teach about the natural world, Dan feels privileged to be a part of this legendary show and to contribute his musical talent to it.

Mike Gunton, the Executive Producer of "Planet Earth III," praised the unique combination of talents in this musical project, with the new additions of RAYE and Bastille adding an exciting dimension to the soundscape.

"Planet Earth III," arriving seven years after the groundbreaking "Planet Earth II," promises to be a captivating journey across continents, unveiling the wonders of our planet. This series will showcase never-before-seen animal behavior and delve into the stories of animal characters facing new challenges in our modern, crowded world. It will also emphasize the urgent need to conserve and restore nature. In the final episode, viewers will meet the dedicated "heroes" across the globe who risk their lives to protect the wildlife and critical ecosystems of Planet Earth.

Narrated by the iconic Sir David Attenborough, this extraordinary eight-episode series is produced by BBC Studios' Natural History Unit, known for its acclaimed work on "Blue Planet II" and "Planet Earth II."
