Using Spotify’s unique streaming intelligence, Channel 4 Streamland will provide Spotify users with an interactive in-app experience, which generates five personalised recommendations of hit shows a user might want to watch – from It’s a Sin, to Misfits, to Friday Night Dinner – all based upon their music tastes and listening habits.

KISS FM's Sam Darlaston voices the service, so we had a chat to find out more...

⦁    Sam, how does it feel to be the voice behind Streamland? Pretty great to be honest! I love the concept as I always struggle to know what my taste in tv is and I've got a solid music taste so blending the two worked a dream. And getting to voice something so innovative for Channel 4 and Spotify is an honour. 

⦁    We love the concept, and we've tried it out for ourselves getting some brilliant results. What shows have you been matched with and what do you make of the tunes offered? I got matched with misfits... read into that what you will. And surprisingly I've never watched it but when I was a kid all my mates did and since I've been told I really missed out so I am going to give it a go. 

⦁    We loved it, but what would you say to anyone who isn't sure about using it? Why is it worth doing? I feel like it's worth doing if you're stuck for something to watch. I think a lot of us spend so much time flicking through streaming services and then watching the same thing over and over again. Don't ask me how many times I've watched New Girl and Peep Show I honestly couldn't tell you. And I also think it's quite interesting to find out what your mates get! Mine got some rogue ones... including Prince Andrew the musical...

⦁    Using the software reintroduced us to some absolute Channel 4 classics! We're still waiting to find a Brookside playlist though. Channel 4 has some iconic tv shows from The Big Breakfast to Bake Off, Father Ted and Naked Attraction.  Which C4 shows light your fire? Wow huge question. So so many. Inbetweeners and Peep show were pretty formative in my teens. Also C4 big brother will always remain the OG. Nowadays I'm loving the Untold docs, Married At First Sight (especially AUS) and Sex Actually with Alice Levine is hilarious and fascinating in equal parts.

⦁    Kiss is flying in the new RAJAR figures.  How's life there and how are you feeling about the Summer and then Kiss Haunted House coming to Liverpool? KISS is always vibes! Loving my weekend breakfast show still, and building on that. I have the best producer in the world Katie Bevan who will be running radio one day and we have so much fun making the show. Kiss always sounds even better in the summer, so absolutely can't wait for what's in store, and KHHP being from Liverpool is an inspired shout. Gets a whole new crowd along and that city is thriving musically after Eurovision! Makes total sense. 

⦁    We know you're a huge Big Brother fan and think you'd ace it on CBB.  How would you feel about doing that?  Hahaha, it's a dream of mine to go into the Big Brother house... even if it's just for a set visit or some kind of behind the scenes stuff... CBB? Who knows, try anything once eh!
