Best TV on tonight? Later… with Jools Holland

Later… with Jools Holland is on BBC Two tonight at 10.10pm.

Stream it with the brand new Humax A1 streaming box (currently only £59.90!).

Later…with Jools Holland returns to Alexandra Palace Theatre in North London with another show packed full of live music and chat.

To open proceedings, Jools welcomes Oxford rocker and Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes, who returns to the show to perform songs from his latest, critically-acclaimed Top 10 solo album, Turn The Car Around. This was a record that took him seven years to make and one that captures the ups and downs of modern life and all the small print in between. Jools also chats to Gaz and takes him down memory lane to revisit Supergrass’ debut performance of their hit Alright on the show in 1995, which aired exactly 28 years ago.

Also joining the line-up tonight is Mahalia - an artist from Leicester, who first performed on the show at the tender age of 17 back in 2015, alongside London collective Rudimental. Tonight, Mahalia makes her debut in her own right with a performance of her latest single Terms and Conditions, taken from her forthcoming new album IRL. Jools also chats to Mahalia and she picks a Corinne Bailey Rae performance from the Later… archives.

Two duos return to the show this week in the form of Mexico City’s Grammy winning Rodrigo Y Gabriela, who perform a couple of numbers from their sixth album In Between Thought…A New World, which was inspired by the pair’s discovery of Hindu philosophy. Brighton rockers Royal Blood also perform on the show ahead of their summer festival season and UK and European tour.

And completing the line-up is debutante and 2019 US Youth Poet Laureate Kara Jackson, who hails from Oak Park, Illinois and has just released her debut album Why Does The Earth Give Us People To Love? which sees her craft a blend of emotional folk music and poetic alt-country, exploring agony and adoration in equal measure.

Previous episodes of this series are available on BBC iPlayer and feature artists including Hozier, Arlo Parks, Thee Sacred Souls, Lisa O’Neill, Venbee, Jill Furmanovsky, Jessie Ware, The Waeve, Dave Okumu & The 7 Generations, Olivia Dean, Sleaford Mods and Stewart Copeland.
