In this brand-new series, Alan Cumming goes on an extraordinary adventure on board the ultra-luxurious Royal Scotsman train that promises an unparalleled odyssey through the heart of Scotland. From picturesque scenery and rich history and traditions to sumptuous spa rooms and culinary artistry, Alan revels in the Royal Scotsman’s splendour and VIP treatment. From exploring historic landmarks to discovering charming locales and unwinding the threads of local history, this series celebrates luxury, friendship and the awe-inspiring panoramas that define Scotland.

In this first episode, Alan steps aboard the Royal Scotsman in Edinburgh and receives an exclusive tour of the train by head of housekeeping Karen, before settling into his luscious cabin. Executive chef Mark shows him the workings of his unique kitchen and reveals the delicate artistry of crafting exquisite meals and fresh baked bread and rolls every day. Venturing beyond the train, Alan visits the Commando Memorial in Lochaber, which pays homage to the brave British Commandos Forces who served during World War II. He sips champagne while taking a leisurely stroll across the gorgeous Silver Sands of Morar, the filming location of the beloved Scottish movie Local Hero. Alan then hears the incredible story of the construction of the West Highland Line’s extension from Fort William to the fishing town of Mallaig, and how this engineering marvel connects Scotland’s remote landscapes.

The train gracefully traverses the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct, before Alan visits the Glenfinnan Monument, which commemorates the Jacobite rising of 1745.
