Radio 2’s Let’s Move It campaign to launch on Monday

BBC Radio 2 is launching Let’s Move It on Monday. It’s a brand new campaign to get Britain moving, and it launches on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, when Zoe will be joined by Vernon Kay and Jo Whiley.

Radio 2 say “We all know the benefits of fitness and exercise to our physical and mental health, but sometimes getting started is the hardest part. Step forward the Radio 2 family to lend a hand, against a backdrop of a massive summer of sport – including the Olympics and Paralympics, the Men’s Euros, Wimbledon, and much more”.

Highlights of the season, which runs from Mon 15 July to Friday 23 August, include…

A special Pace Setter series fronted by Radio 2 presenters, available on BBC Sounds and featuring:

  • Vernon Kay gets you moving with 90s dance anthems
  • Jo Whiley brings happy energy to your workout
  • Romesh Ranganathan brings big rap banger energy
  • Trevor Nelson picks R&B gold to get you over the line
  • Gary Davies delivers the ultimate 80s workout
  • Michelle Visage is serving an hour of huge workout hits
  • Dermot O’Leary’s monster rock run!

Radio 2 will be encouraging you to pledge your own fitness goals via our Get In Touch page. Not just running – could be swimming, Zumba, yoga. The more interesting the better!

Couch to 5k will host Radio 2 content within their app for the duration of the project.

In collaboration with parkrun in Dermot O’Leary’s Saturday morning show. In ‘UnderCover Runner’ Dermot will send a Radio 2 presenter to a parkrun in a secret location.

Jeremy Vine will be talking to the nominees of BBC Local Radio’s Make A Difference Awards about how they are making movement within their local communities more accessible to all.
