Radio 1’s Dance Weekend lineup adds emerging DJs Boo and Shelly

Emerging DJs Boo and Shelly have scored the opportunity of a lifetime: they will open Radio 1’s Dance Weekend 2024 on Friday, August 2, at the iconic 528 Ibiza.

This nationwide DJ talent search, a collaboration between Radio 1 Dance and BBC Introducing, was launched last year to discover the UK’s best and most promising DJs who produce their own music.

The event promises to be an unforgettable night, featuring some of the biggest names in dance music, including Scottish sensation Hannah Laing and Birmingham vocalist Clementine Douglas, who have also been added to the lineup. Boo, Shelly, Hannah Laing, and Clementine Douglas will join an impressive roster of artists, such as CamelPhat, Jazzy & Belters Only, Dom Dolla, Gorgon City, and Armand Van Helden. The full lineup for Radio 1’s Dance Weekend Ibiza 2024 is available on the Radio 1 Dance Weekend website.

Boo, a producer, DJ, and vocalist from the North East of England, has been focusing on her own music since the pandemic and has garnered support from numerous established DJs. She was also named one of Jack Saunders’ ‘Next Wave’ Future Artists.

Shelly, a DJ and producer from East England, has been creating and mixing UKG, jungle, and techno for the past five years, earning support from Radio 1.

Shelly says: “I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to play lots of tunes! It’s mad that this is my first time going to Ibiza, and I’m going out to play!”

Jaguar will host a special show tonight from 10 pm on BBC Introducing on Radio 1 Dance, where she will play tracks from both winners.

Entries for Radio 1 Dance and BBC Introducing’s nationwide talent search were reviewed by BBC Music Introducing’s network of local and regional shows. Each show forwarded one entry to the final shortlist, and a panel of Radio 1 DJs and producers selected the two winners.

The celebrations don’t end with Radio 1’s epic event. They will continue throughout the weekend with Radio 1 Dance at the following venues:

Friday, August 2
