ITV’s brand new original comedy series Piglets starts tonight at 9.30pm on ITV1. You can stream the whole series as a boxset on ITVX.
The government’s ambitious policy of recruiting 20,000 new police officers quickly claims it hasn’t compromised on standards. But has it?
‘Piglets’ delves into the journey of six diverse new recruits and the dedicated staff tasked with shaping them into competent officers. Leading the cast are Sarah Parish as the no-nonsense Superintendent Julie Spry and Mark Heap as the somewhat lenient Superintendent Bob Weekes, responsible for overseeing the training of these fresh faces.
The new recruits include Steph (Callie Cooke), Leggo (Sam Pote), Geeta (Sukh Kaur Ojla), Afia (Halema Hussain), Dev (Abdul Sessay), and Paul (Jamie Bisping). Supporting the superintendents are Head of Admin Melanie (Rebecca Humphries) and police trainers Mike and Daz (Ukweli Roach and Ricky Champ).
‘Piglets’ is crafted by the talented team of Robert Harley, James Henry, Oriane Messina, Victoria Pile, Richard Preddy, and Fay Rusling, known for ‘Green Wing’ and ‘Campus’ (Channel 4), along with ITV’s Comedy Writers Initiative candidate Omar Khan, a recent International Emmy winner (Sir Peter Ustinov Award for writers under 30).
The creative team collaborated with a writers’ room ‘annexe’ consisting of new talents Abiola Ogunbiyi, Nusrath Tapadar, Farhan Solo, and Alex Bertulis-Fernandes, all emerging from ITV’s Comedy Writers Initiative aimed at promoting underrepresented voices in comedy.
