Maya Jama talks Love Island 2024…

Love Island is back for its eleventh series and your fourth as host, how are you feeling about returning to Mallorca this summer?
I’m so excited to return to Mallorca this summer because it feels like we’ve had a big gap since the winter series. I’m ready for it, the fans are waiting, there’s lots of anticipation and I can’t wait to meet this year’s Islanders. Love Island is the official start of summer.

This year’s campaign is tied to the notion of ‘where there’s love there’s fire’, in your role as host, what has been the most heartwarming Love Island moment you’ve been a part of?
Kai and Sanam recently got engaged and they were the winners of my first ever series. I got to watch their love story blossom and it’s proof that Love Island really works.

What are you hoping to see from this year’s Islanders?
I’ll be honest, I’m hoping for drama. I want loads of love and happy couples at the end but I do want to be entertained so I’m hoping for lots of fiery moments.

Aftersun is set to return alongside some new regular panellists, what do you love most about hosting this show and the live element of the format?
I love Aftersun, It’s something I look forward to every Sunday. We get all the Islanders on and just have a laugh. Live TV has always been one of my favourite things to do, anything can happen on live TV which I always find exciting.

What advice would you give this year’s Islanders ahead of them embarking on their Love Island journeys?
My advice would be to just go for it! It’s a once in a lifetime experience and you don’t want to have
any regrets so go for it, make all the connections you can, you can always dash them if you don’t feel like it, you’ve got to live it up in there.

Why do you think the Love Island Villa is the perfect place for hopefuls to find love?
We all experience extra bursts of love when we are in the sun when we are relaxed and in a nice environment. Everyone is feeling sexy in their bikinis so I think it’s the perfect formula to find a connection.

Don’t miss this year’s Love Island Live Launch, Monday 3rd June, 9pm on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX.
