In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an army of ghosts that casts a death chill upon the city, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
After a slightly wobbly Ghostbusters Afterlife, the franchise is back on form with this blockbuster of a movie which pulls out all the stops. In fact, it wouldn’t be ludicrous to say it’s the best Ghostbusters film to date. It’s clever, it’s funny, it looks absolutely spectacular and it’s a real fun adventure ride. They don’t make many movies like this anymore… we were able to sit down as a whole family and we all enjoyed every moment of it. It has a real classic 80’s film feel about it, a bit like The Goonies or indeed the original Ghostbusters.
Paul Rudd is on his best form, looking like he’s loving every second and the inclusion of original cast members Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd just enhance the joy factor further.
The visual effects, which could easily look horribly artificial, look fantastic and it’s worth mentioning the soundtrack as well, which sounded sick on our surround sound speakers!
