Chicane reveals all in our brand new Dance Bangers podcast

Today we can reveal that iconic dance music legend Chicane is the first guest on our brand new Dance Bangers podcast.

In the ever-evolving landscape of electronic music, few artists have managed to maintain relevance and success across decades. British songwriter and producer Chicane, born Nicholas Bracegirdle, is one such luminary. With a career spanning over two decades, Chicane has consistently pushed the boundaries of electronic music, creating anthems that have become timeless classics.

On the first new episode of the podcast, dropping this week, Nick reflects on his career, telling us why tracks such as “Saltwater” have stood the test of time. He also reveals his opinions on some of today’s biggest dance music stars, including Calvin Harris – and his thoughts aren’t all positive! As well as our conversation, you’ll also be able to hear some of the biggest dance music tracks from the 90’s onwards, back-to-back, and it’s completely free to stream.

Chicane first burst onto the scene in the mid-1990s, a time when electronic music was beginning to find its footing in mainstream consciousness. His debut album, “Far from the Maddening Crowds” (1997), was a critical and commercial success, introducing the world to his unique blend of ambient, trance, and house music. The album featured the hit single “Offshore,” a track that has since become an iconic anthem in the trance genre. “Offshore” was not just a chart-topper; it was a song that resonated with fans and DJs alike, establishing Chicane as a force to be reckoned with in the electronic music world.

Following the success of his debut, Chicane continued to build on his momentum with the release of “Behind the Sun” in 2000. This album featured collaborations with high-profile artists such as Bryan Adams on the track “Don’t Give Up,” which became a global hit. The song’s euphoric melodies and uplifting lyrics captured the hearts of listeners worldwide, solidifying Chicane’s place in the upper echelons of electronic music producers. “Saltwater,” another standout track from the album, became an instant classic, sampling the ethereal vocals of Máire Brennan from Clannad and further showcasing Chicane’s talent for blending emotive melodies with pulsating beats.

Chicane’s ability to evolve with the times while staying true to his musical roots is a key factor in his enduring success. His later albums, such as “Giants” (2010) and “The Sum of Its Parts” (2015), saw him experimenting with different sounds and collaborating with a new generation of artists. Tracks like “Poppiholla” and “Come Back” demonstrated his knack for reinvention, proving that his music could remain fresh and relevant in a rapidly changing industry.

Live performances have also played a significant role in Chicane’s career. Known for his electrifying sets, Chicane has performed at some of the world’s biggest music festivals and events, captivating audiences with his dynamic stage presence and ability to create a euphoric atmosphere. His live shows are a testament to his talent as both a producer and performer, bringing his studio creations to life in a way that resonates deeply with fans.

In addition to his work as a solo artist, Chicane has also made significant contributions as a songwriter and producer for other artists. His keen ear for melody and production has seen him work with a diverse array of musicians, further cementing his reputation as a versatile and influential figure in the music industry.

Chicane’s impact on electronic music is undeniable. His ability to craft timeless anthems, adapt to changing musical landscapes, and deliver unforgettable live performances has ensured his place as one of the genre’s most respected and beloved figures. As he continues to innovate and inspire, there is no doubt that Chicane’s legacy will endure for many years to come.
