England’s match against Serbia captivated over half of the nation’s television viewers on Sunday evening, as the BBC brought together a massive audience to watch BBC Sport’s coverage of England’s Men’s Euros opener across BBC TV and BBC iPlayer.

A peak audience of 15 million people tuned in to BBC One to watch the coverage of England v Serbia. Additionally, the match was streamed 3.5 million times on BBC iPlayer. The event garnered an average audience of 10.5 million, resulting in a 60% share of the viewing audience.

Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, remarked, “The nation came together in huge numbers to follow BBC Sport’s coverage of the first weekend of the Men’s Euros. Whether it was the tension of England’s opening win, the fallout from Scotland’s tough start, the exciting performances from Germany and Spain, or the heartwarming story of Christian Eriksen scoring three years after his collapse on the pitch, it’s fantastic that we can showcase the best sporting storytelling across BBC TV, iPlayer, Radio, and Online.”

Upcoming home nation games include Scotland v Switzerland on BBC One at 7.25 pm on Wednesday, 19 June, and England v Denmark on BBC One at 4 pm on Thursday, 20 June.

Coverage of both games will also be available on BBC iPlayer, BBC 5 Live, BBC Sounds, and Online.
