New All Creatures Great And Small series addresses the War

News: The new series of All Creatures Great And Small, season 4, starts 9pm on Thursday 5th October on Channel 5 and My5, and explores the impact of the War.

In the spring of 1940, the winds of change sweep through Skeldale House, ushering in uncertainty and transformation for all its residents. James and Helen find themselves pondering the prospect of starting a family, their hearts burdened by the looming question of James' potential RAF deployment. Meanwhile, Tristan's conspicuous absence weighs heavily on the household, particularly on Siegfried, who endeavors to maintain the growing household's unity in the face of an evolving world.

Amidst this shifting landscape, a blossoming friendship emerges between Mrs. Hall and Helen as they gaze toward the future, seeking solace and strength in each other. The arrival of Richard Carmody, a novice veterinary student, adds complexity to the dynamic of the house, setting the stage for intriguing developments.

In the inaugural episode, Skeldale House grapples with the absence of Tristan, rendering it busier than ever before. While the specter of war hovers, James and Helen dare to dream about their future, fervently hoping that James won't receive the call of duty.

A serendipitous encounter with a young lad named Wesley Binks raises concerns for James, who suspects that Duke, the lad's dog, may be subject to mistreatment. James is resolute in his commitment to prioritize the welfare of animals, regardless of the potential consequences.

Meanwhile, Siegfried, grappling with Tristan's absence, finds himself repeatedly summoned by the experienced farmer Clifford Slavens. In this time of hardship, Siegfried learns the value of support and the importance of coming together. When Mrs. Hall takes a leap of faith, Siegfried extends his unwavering support, fostering a sense of camaraderie that promises to shape their shared journey in this evolving world.
