Bruno Mars and Rosé top the EE Big Top 40 Chart

Bruno Mars and Rosé are this week’s No.1 on the official EE Big Top 40 Chart, the most listened to chart in the UK.

For the first time since August, Lady Gaga wasn’t No.1 this week, with Bruno and Rose’s track ‘APT’ climbing to the top spot.

Talking about the song to Vogue, Rose said: “‘APT.’ is the name of my single that just dropped and ‘APT.’ is actually a Korean drinking game that I love to play with my friends. Basically, we were hanging out in the studio and I was like how about I teach you guys some Korean drinking games and then I started doing it.”

To play “APT,” everyone forms a circle and chants “apateu.” Someone calls out a number, and players race to stack their hands on top of each other. The last person to place their hand takes a shot. Rosé and Bruno then wrote the song after playing the game and Rosé said: “I remember going home freaking out, thinking, ‘Is this ok? Writing a song about a drinking game. Is this too unserious?'”

Elsewhere in this week’s Big Top 40, Sam Clegg was at No.2 with his single “Send Me A Sign”. The charity single, which features a video based on John Lewis Christmas ads, is raising money for charities which supports older people who may suffer with loneliness in the winter. “My main aim is to raise money for two charities which support elderly people facing loneliness. Re-engage and Friends of the Elderly both play an essential role in bringing companionship and a sense of belonging to older adults who might otherwise feel isolated. Their work is crucial in fostering connection, especially during the festive season when many feel left out.”
