Sky’s new Boyzone documentary to stream from February

Boyzone: No Matter What, a major new documentary from Sky TV will be available to watch and stream from February.

For the first time in 30 years, Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch, and Michael Graham of Boyzone grant an exclusive and rare interview for the three-part Sky documentary series Boyzone: No Matter What. The band opens up about their personal experiences in a group that sold over 25 million records worldwide, discussing the challenges of global fame and its true cost. The members also reflect on the difficult moments of their journey, confronting the strained relationships and tragic events that have left a lasting impact on their lives, families, and friendships.

This Sky Original series, produced by Curious Films, features contributions from Michelle Gately, the late Stephen Gately’s sister; his former partner, pop star Eloy De Jong; and their estranged manager, Louis Walsh. The documentary also includes previously unseen archival footage from the group's early years. With raw and unflinching honesty, the series explores pivotal moments that shaped Boyzone, from the highs and lows of worldwide fame to the intense tabloid scrutiny in 1990s Britain that led Stephen Gately to come out. Following a remarkable comeback in 2007, the band faced a heartbreaking tragedy when Stephen passed away — a loss that the surviving members have never fully healed from.

Hayley Reynolds, Acting Director of Documentaries and Factual at Sky, said: “Boyzone’s music has touched millions over the last thirty years, and Sky is thrilled to be bringing this exclusive new series to our customers in the UK and Ireland. Curious Films’ pedigree for sophisticated and intelligent storytelling, as well as deep, privileged access to both the band and Louis Walsh, promises to get under the skin of their extraordinary story with an unrivalled level of insight.”

Dov Freedman, Executive Producer and CEO of Curious Films said: “We couldn’t be prouder that Ronan, Keith, Shane and Mikey have allowed us to definitively tell their story after almost 30 years in Curious’ debut commission for Sky. I think the candid interviews from all the key players in the Boyzone story really sets this series apart as something very special."

Stream on Sky Documentaries via Sky TV and NOW from February 2025.
