TWO acting legends are joining EastEnders!

Two acting legends are joining EastEnders in early 2024. George Knight is in for a family-centered New Year surprise as he unexpectedly reunites with his adoptive parents, Gloria and Eddie Knight.

After a decade of separation from George (played by Colin Salmon), Gloria and Eddie make their way to Walford in an effort to mend ties with their son. However, it soon becomes evident that both parents harbor a mysterious secret.

Elizabeth Counsell is set to portray Gloria Knight, leveraging her impressive 55-year career in television, film, and theatre. Her notable roles include appearances in productions like Call the Midwife, Doctors, and The Split, with her best-known role being in the BBC series, Brush Strokes. Taking on the role of Eddie Knight is Christopher Fairbank, a seasoned actor with a diverse portfolio encompassing both the big and small screen, including recent appearances in The Little Mermaid (2023), Guardians of the Galaxy, and Andor.

Expressing enthusiasm about the new additions, Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, stated, “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome the legendary and immensely talented actors, Christopher and Elizabeth, to the EastEnders family. While currently slated for a brief stint, Gloria and Eddie find themselves in the midst of drama as they strive to reconnect with their son. Soon, it becomes clear why George has chosen to keep his distance.”

Elizabeth shared her thoughts on joining the show, saying, “I can honestly say it has been an absolute joy. The cast and the entire team behind the scenes at EastEnders are brilliant and have been incredibly welcoming. Colin and I actually worked together before, and who would have thought that I’d be playing his mum almost thirty years later!”

Christopher added, “I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to join the cast of EastEnders. Everyone has been so welcoming, and it’s been fantastic to meet and work with the brilliant actors involved in the show.”
