Boarders series 2 to feature guest stars Alan Cumming and Natalie Cassidy

The BBC has confirmed that the second series of Boarders, a popular comedy-drama, will feature two highly anticipated guest stars: screen legends Alan Cumming and Natalie Cassidy. Boarders, created by Daniel Lawrence Taylor, follows five talented black inner-city teens who receive scholarships to the prestigious but challenging St. Gilbert's school. The second series will introduce new dynamics and challenges, with Alan Cumming playing a high-maintenance party host named Alan and Natalie Cassidy portraying Sharon Hail, a quirky teacher at a rival school.

The second series promises to explore a new era at St. Gilbert’s, where the acting headmistress, Carol Watlington-Geese, seeks to remove the scholarship students. The series continues to mix humor with heartfelt moments as the characters navigate their experiences.

Cumming and Cassidy's involvement reflects the growing success of the series, which has gained popularity in the UK and the US. Alongside returning cast members, new faces will join the show, including Wunmi Mosaku, Cara Theobold, and Michael Salami.

On joining Boarders series two, Alan Cumming says: "I've always said that letting people know you are a fan of theirs is a good idea. And, so it was with Boarders. I mentioned this to the producers (who also happen to produce The Traitors), and very soon after, I found myself on the set having such a fun time!"

Daniel Lawrence Taylor says: “Welcoming the fantastic Alan Cumming and Natalie Cassidy to St. Gilbert's was an absolute pleasure and they were a joy to work with. I can’t wait for viewers to see what they got up to on campus!”

Madeleine Sinclair, Studio Lambert Creative Director for Scripted and executive producer, says: “To have the calibre of actors in Natalie and Alan to join Boarders this season is testament to Daniel’s writing and the success of the show both in the UK on the BBC and in the US on TUBI. We can’t wait to see how they are welcomed by our Boarders audiences.”

The new series will be available next month on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three, while the first series is currently streaming.
