Mel Giedroyc launches new Magic Radio schedule this weekend

Magic Radio launches its brand new schedules this weekend as a raft of new names including Gok Wan and Gaby Roslin join the station.

The newcomers can be heard from this Sunday 12 January, when Mel Giedroyc presents her first Sunday morning show, airing 10am - 1pm.

Mel said: ‘I am overjoyed to be back in the bosom of my Magic Radio family and can’t wait to spend Sunday mornings with our lovely listeners from January next year. Join me for a chat about the week you’ve just had or what’s to come in your week ahead and whether you’re celebrating, commiserating or just want to hear some brilliant music I’ll be there! Can’t wait…’

Paul Sylvester, Magic Radio Content Director said: ‘Mel epitomises the Magic audience in terms of her outlook on life. She’s brilliantly funny, warm and engaging. She loves our music and is the perfect friend to spend Sunday mornings with. I think this show will become a stand-out in the schedule and a real appointment-to-listen.’

Then on Monday, Nicki Chapman takes over the evening show, presenting live from 8pm - Midnight Monday to Thursday. Nicki said, “I’m honoured to be presenting Mellow Magic at the start of next year – it’s such an iconic show & brand. I’m really looking forward to playing some of the world’s greatest songs each night – many of which I’ve been involved in – and becoming friends with the listeners, however they’re spending their evenings.”

Paul Sylvester, Magic Radio Content Director said: “I’m thrilled to be able to announce that Nicki, one of the most experienced and accomplished radio broadcasters in the UK, is joining the Magic Radio family. We know that listeners love her relaxed style and tone, making her the perfect fit for radio’s most iconic evening show and we know that she’ll welcome in audiences with her immense warmth and stories of a career in music.”

Later in the month, Gaby Roslin launches her new Saturday morning Show, airing 10am - 1pm. Gaby said: ‘I am so excited to finally be able to share the news that I’m joining the Magic Radio family – literally an opportunity that couldn’t be missed. How lucky am I that I get to spend Saturday mornings with the fabulous Magic Radio listeners – finding out how everyone plans to spend their weekend and spending some time with them at the start of the best two days of the week!’

Magic Radio Content Director Paul Sylvester said: ‘Gaby is one of Britain’s best broadcasters and we’re delighted to be able to announce today that she’s joining the Magic family. Alongside our current much-loved on-air team, and with Gok Wan, Nicki Chapman and Mel Giedroyc, also joining us in January, 2025 is set to be an exciting year for the station with much more to come.’

And completing the lineup, Gok Wan and Harriet Scott launch the brand new Magic Breakfast Show on Monday 27 January at 6am.

Gok Wan said: ‘I am beyond excited to be joining the Magic Radio Breakfast team. I have loved working with the crew and of course getting to know our fabulous listeners. I have truly fallen in love with radio and I don’t even mind the early mornings, I’m an early riser anyway! We are going to have a brilliant time and I want you all to join us in the daily fun. Harriet is a wonderful co-host and I can’t wait for our Magic to happen!’

Harriet added, ‘I know that our listeners are going to love spending their mornings with Gok just as much as I do. We’re all going to have some adventures together in 2025 and I can’t wait!’

Paul Sylvester, Magic Radio Content Director said: ‘I’m delighted to be able to share the news that Gok Wan is our new Magic Breakfast co-host. Gok and Harriet have a brilliant chemistry and alongside Gok’s experience as a live TV presenter, his natural warmth, sense of mischief, affinity with ‘real people’ and love for our music this meant he was the natural choice.’
