Best TV Tonight: Vicky Pattison: My Deepfake Sex Tape
Watch it tonight at 10pm on Channel 4
Vicky Pattison: My Deepfake Sex Tape is a brand new documentary which you can watch tonight at 10pm on Channel 4.
In this powerful, eye-opening one-off, Vicky Pattison immerses herself in the world of deepfake pornography in the most personal and exposing way. Embarking on a brave and risky experiment, Vicky creates and releases a deepfake sex-tape using her own image to shed light on one of the darkest uses of AI technology – and one, to her disbelief, that remains largely legal.
Having already been subject to online misogynist abuse, Vicky, bubbling with emotion, hears from a wide range of victims of deepfakes (terrifyingly, one is still a child); as well as speaking with lawmakers and perpetrators; and asking what the future holds and what can be done to protect women and girls from image-based abuse?
Speaking about the controversial documentary, Vicky told the BBC:
“What struck me most was how helpless I felt once it was released – it gave me a glimpse into the powerlessness victims experience,” she says.
“By putting myself in this position, even in a controlled and consensual way, I wanted to bring home just how vulnerable all of us are”.
Stream the documentary on demand via the Channel 4 platform.
