Wicked: For Good is coming to Sky Cinema

One of the biggest movie musicals of recent years is heading to Sky Cinema Premieres this July, giving audiences another chance to return to the magical land of Oz with Wicked: For Good.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, the fantasy musical is the second and final chapter of the two-part film adaptation of the hit Broadway and West End phenomenon Wicked. The sequel picks up after the dramatic events of the first film, following the increasingly complicated relationship between Elphaba and Glinda as Oz is plunged into political turmoil.

As Elphaba becomes a hunted figure after being branded a threat by the Wizard’s regime, she finds herself embracing the identity that will eventually make her known as the Wicked Witch of the West. Meanwhile, Glinda rises to prominence as a public symbol of goodness, struggling to balance her loyalty to her former friend with the expectations placed upon her by the people of Oz. The story unfolds alongside key events from The Wizard of Oz, offering a fresh perspective on the classic tale.

The film sees Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande reprise their acclaimed roles as Elphaba and Glinda, supported by a star-studded cast that includes Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Ethan Slater as Boq and Marissa Bode as Nessarose.

Following the enormous success of 2024’s Wicked, the sequel proved to be another major box-office draw. Wicked: For Good opened to record-breaking numbers, delivering the biggest opening weekend ever for a Broadway musical adaptation and going on to earn hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide. Industry reports placed its global debut at more than $220 million, while its overall worldwide gross surpassed the half-billion-dollar mark.

The film’s arrival on Sky Cinema Premieres offers fans the chance to experience the emotional conclusion to Elphaba and Glinda’s story from the comfort of home. Packed with spectacular musical numbers, dazzling production design and powerful performances from its leading stars, Wicked: For Good brings one of musical theatre’s most beloved stories to a triumphant close.
